****Important Message About Meet Sign-Ups****:
As in past years, the procedure for signing up for SAAA meets is that you MUST sign your child up in the SAAA Meet Notebook prior to the deadline. The notebook is located in the swim office in the front of the swim box. Quite a few families emailed entries to this address rather than signing up in the notebook. Coach Terry is working to see if he can get those kids entered in the meet. He will do his best but there is no guarantee. Those families will be notified if the entries are accepted as soon as possible.
After this meet, absolutely NO email entries will be accepted for any SAAA meet. Please stop by the office and sign your kids up for the meets. Please pick up a copy of the SAAA Handbook while you are there. The handbook is available online at our website as well. Thank you.
Other Upcoming SAAA Meets: YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR THESE IN THE NOTEBOOK!
Ventana entries due on 6/3/11-Meet is 6/7/11@ Ventana
9 to 18 invitation and Don Baker Invitational due on 6/4/11
Pre-White Practice on Meet Days: because some of our pre-white swimmers are not yet ready to enter meets, there will be practice for pre-whites Mon-Thurs, even if there is an SAAA meet. Please come at the normal time for your pre-white practice. All other color groups are expected to attend meets if they can, and there will not be swim practice during meet times for any other color group.
Friday Fun Practice: We are working to get our Friday Fun Practices up and running. More information to follow this week! The goal of Friday Fun Practice is to provide some time for our older kids (who starting Tuesday will have practice in the mornings) to mingle with and help mentor the younger swimmers. Stay tuned for details!
Coach Terry’s Meet Checklist: Packing and Tips for Preparing for a Swim Meet
- SWIM SUIT-practice and race suit-backup just in case
- goggles- practice and race suit-backup just in case
- team swim cap (we will have extras if you didn’t receive yours at registration)
- towels
- warm clothes for swimmers (they will get cold no matter what!) e.g. sweats, parka
- flip flops for poolside and warm shoes or socks for cold toes!
- sunscreen and hats. If you have an extra shade tent, you are welcome to bring it along
- A cooler with cold, healthy snacks and plenty of fluids (although kids love the gatorades, etc, be sure to pack some non-sugar drinks as well) For snacks, try to avoid dairy, high sodium and chocolate on race day. Healthy and “bland” is good!
- Chair
- Map to meet, pen/Sharpe/highlighter to write down event /heat/lane assignment
- Clean clothes for post meet Fun.
- Some cash (a few dollars) to purchase meet programs or food from snack bar
- Swimmers: if you bring books, electronics, ipods, etc., please pack these away/give them to your parents during races/when you’re not at your chair. It will be wet and crowded. You do not want to lose or ruin your belongings.
- Pre meet Meals: the night before is a good time to eat carbs and protein. On race day, eat a big breakfast, a healthy lunch, and a protein snack 2 hours before your first race.
No practice on Memorial Day. See you at the Orca meet on Tuesday!
